One of Coventry's few little gems.
A cafe bar located in one of Coventry's three spires. Extremely small inside - approximately 4 tables! They still manage to squeeze in a big screen tv, which can ruin the vibe I think sometimes.
They have a good range of snacks such as panini's which are reasonably priced and very tasty.
They have a vast selection of drinks and specialty beers for such a small place. The yummiest hot chocolate with marshmallows in.
There is a lot of space outside and they have gigantic patio heaters. You have to switch seats a lot on a night out to avoid a tan on one side only. Bit like a giant kebab really...But keeps it lovely and toasty. -

Cool hep indie bar located at the base of one of the Coventry cathedral spires. Hence the name - In spire.
There are NO beers on tap. Brace yourself. Everything is coming out of a bottle or can. BUT they make it up by having a fantastic (too huge to drink in one night) selection of trappist and German beers. Prices are reasonable. Their stock tends to change so there's always something new.
It's quite small, with a few booths inside and an open area out front. The only negative here is that this place is packed on a Saturday so you might find yourself in a queue.
Very good live music. Last time the band was local but heavily influenced by Mogwai/GYBE.
Inspire has some really handsome patrons. I just wish I knew what to say. -

Awesome bar in the centre of coventry, really nice relaxed atmosphere and very reasonable prices. The staff are friendly and attentive to customers. It does get relatively busy at the usual times which is to be expected.
The beer selection is all bottles but varied, it doesn't change much and they do sell out so you can't always have the same thing twice. During the day they serve food which is surprisingly good but you can be left waiting for slightly longer than expected.
On a Friday night I've seen the bouncers be enthusiastic with bag searches and asking customers for ID with them refusing to accept a friend of lines Thai driving liscence and refusing entry to the entire group while we explained. -

Great place, in a very unique locale. The Germans help make this, but no thanks to them.

This is where I take visitors who bitch about Coventry city centre. In fact, this is where I take myself to stop me bitching about Coventry city centre. As far as I'm concerned it's a total blip on the radar of chain pubs and chav-action that my dear home town is famed for.
Inspire is small and relaxed. The indoor bit is actually tiny - no bother during the summer as the outdoor area is massive; during the winter it's cosy (but everyone's a smoker so goes outside anyway). The beer and spirit ranges are fantastic - awesome Belgian and German beers abound, as well as some great dark rums. The food is good too - fairly standard lunch fare (paninis, salads, whatnot though they've just started making their own soups).
The name hints at the location - yes, it's in a spire, one of Coventry's Three, and lots of the furniture inside is reclaimed from the old church. Apart from the bar, I guess
